Statement of Position
Local Issue #8 - Proposed Tax Levy (Renewal)
Findlay City School District
Synopsis: Local issue 8 is a proposed renewal tax levy (for general operating expenses) for an additional five years
appearing on the March 6th ballot for the Findlay City School District to continue the tradition of excellence.
Position: The Findlay•Hancock County Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board has taken a position in “Support” of
local Issue 8, by a majority vote with final approval garnered by the Alliance Board of Directors, whose role is to oversee
operations of all departments (Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau). The committee is
acting on a request from a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber, a division of the Findlay•Hancock
County Alliance, is dedicated helping the Findlay-Hancock County region to grow and prosper, and we feel the support
of local Issue 8 is important to fulfilling that goal.

FINDLAY CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
A Majority Affirmative Vote Is Necessary For Passage
A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Findlay City School District, Hancock County, Ohio for
the purpose of CURRENT EXPENSES at a rate not exceeding 4.9 mills for each one dollar of valuation,
which amounts to forty-nine cents ($0.49) for each one hundred dollars of valuation,
for five (5) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.

The Issue 8 Renewal Levy:
• Renews a previously approved 4.9-mill levy for an additional five years.
• Maintains existing programs.
• Protects approximately $4.1 million our schools are currently receiving for educational programs.
• Supports day-to-day operations such as staff salaries, utilities, textbooks, educational materials, transportation
and equipment.
• Allows district personnel to responsibly plan for educational services for the next five years.
• Does not raise your taxes.
